Wix Domains Email DNS: Connect External Business Email
Using Wix for your site but OquMail for inboxes — MX and TXT record steps.
You do not have to buy mail through Wix. Point MX to a dedicated host and keep your builder site unchanged.
Wix site, mail elsewhere
Wix sells mailboxes through a partner rather than hosting mail itself, but you do not have to buy them. If your domain uses Wix’s name servers, you can add MX and TXT records in Wix’s DNS settings and point mail at any host while the website stays on Wix.
Steps
- In your Wix account, open Domains, choose the domain and go to its DNS records
- Edit the MX records and replace them with the one OquMail gives you
- Add the TXT records for ownership, SPF, DKIM and DMARC
- If there is already an SPF record, merge OquMail’s entry into it instead of adding a second one
- Save, then press Verify in OquMail and wait for the checks to turn green
If your name servers are elsewhere
If the domain was connected to Wix by pointing records rather than name servers, DNS is still managed at your registrar. Add the mail records there instead. The rule is simple: records go wherever the domain’s name servers point.
