How to Migrate Business Email Without Losing Messages
Switching from Gmail, Zoho, or another host to OquMail — MX cutover timing, parallel running, and telling customers about a new send domain.
Before you change MX
- Export or forward critical threads from the old system
- Lower DNS TTL 24 hours ahead if your host allows
- Create all mailboxes on OquMail first
- Send test messages in and out while old MX still runs
Cutover
Replace MX records in a maintenance window. Old mail may arrive at the previous host for up to TTL duration — plan overlap or temporary dual delivery if your old provider supports it.
